Filter protocol - event selection conditions

The selection of events is carried out by groups of conditions, which are explicitly defined in a filter action:
  • date/time conditions.
  • conditions on event types generated on the interface(s) referenced in a Filter Set:
    • a group of system event types related to the profile execution.
    • a group of protocol conditions specific to the event types depending on the protocol used on the PH, SL, DL links.

The date/time conditions and the conditions on event types must be simultaneously fulfilled; they constitute an AND function. The conditions and the operating rules for event selection are similar for all types of action.

Principle of cascade selection conditions

The same type of action can carry out several filtering executions (repetition of the action type in the list) in order to cascade the conditions and thus realize an AND condition.

Definition of protocol conditions

Each condition can be defined by any type of event of the PH, SL, DL links according to the protocol stack specification by layers. Additionally filtering conditions exist on emulator and traffic events (S2, S3 type), generated in case of simulation.

The selection conditions can be of three modes for each protocol layer:

  • Decoding: each protocol condition can be defined by any message type of the protocol layer..
  • Service: selection conditions on emulator and traffic events.
  • Value: selection conditions in a layer can be defined by:
    • a field-value in the control field identified in all the types of the messages of the protocol layer.
    • a data-value identified in the data field of the messages of the protocol layer, conveying data.

Use of protocol conditions to manage the actions is based on the following principles:

  • The group of protocol conditions which refer to different protocol layers, constitute an OR function.
  • The protocol conditions defined within a selection mode constitute an OR function.
  • Basically there is an OR function between the different selection modes, but an AND function can be defined between used Decoding and Value selection modes.
