Filter Run overview

The Filter Execution function allows the processing Off-line, without any profile execution, of an existing protocol event file to generate a result event file according to the recording specifications of a filter.

The use of an active filter enables the generation of the following events starting from protocol events:

  • PDU events at the upper layer N+1, after processing of event data fields according to a protocol layer N, which uses the Segmentation /Reassembly capability.
  • statistics events for counting on protocol events.
  • user events according to a user processing.

Operating

Basically, the recording specifications of a filter file are executed on a SOURCE event file and creates a RESULT event file which can be of the same event type or of different type.

Several source files can be simultaneously processed and combined in a single result file whose events are filed by date. For the sake of consistency in dates, it is necessary for the source files to have been generated on the same equipment.
