Event-editor protocol - display options

If there is no associated filter applied, all events of the event file generated by the AS-INTERFACE (PH events and Level 1 events) or by the MANAGER (XDU events for example) are displayed: decoding and filtering are not possible.

If an associated filter is applied, the events are displayed by the generation of ASCII lines corresponding to each decoding level format specified in the display format.

The display format defines the maximum decoding level used for the display:

  • the control fields are displayed up to this level.
  • the data field relative to this level is displayed.

The Upper spec specification automatically positions this level at the highest one specified in the protocol stack.

The filter includes the description of display formats which are applied on the character-string produced by each level:

  • Control field: deletion, hexadecimal encoding, partial or total interpretation.
  • Data field: partially displayed by specifying a maximum length, ASCII/Hexadecimal encoding.

Display action on SEGMENTED PDU

The Record action can generate PDU events (N level) when the segmentation is implemented in a BOP protocol (N-1 level).
The Display action uses the BOP basic events and the PDU events as if this involved a single event. The Control fields and the Data field are displayed according to the the level specified in the display format:

  • Up to level N: all the control fields and the data field of PDU are displayed.
  • Up to a lower level: the contents of the basic BOP events are displayed. If the PDU events have been generated in Discarded mode, the segmented data not recorded are absent and replaced by a special string <...>.

Color attributes

Colors are alloted to the event presentation by layer, by direction , by interface number or by type (PH, SL, DL).
